Emerging Trends in Network Security

...

Emerging tech has a big impact on network security and can be good or bad. Cloud can make the network more scalable and flexible but introduces new risks like data breaches and loss of control of data. Quantum can make encryption more effective but introduces new vulnerabilities like quantum hacking.

User behavior analytics is a significant emerging tech that can have a big impact on network security. By analyzing user behavior, organizations can detect anomalies and potential security threats and take action to protect the network. However, user behavior analytics also raises privacy concerns and organizations need to be careful to balance security and privacy when using this tech.

Two other emerging tech that can impact network security are artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT). AI can be used to automate many security tasks like intrusion detection and prevention (Kimani et al., 2019) but can also introduce new risks like AI-based attacks. IoT can expand the attack surface of the network making it more vulnerable to attacks. To handle a data blackout due to a security breach, organizations need to have an incident response plan in place. This plan should have steps to isolate the affected systems, contain the breach, and restore affected data. It should also have steps to communicate to affected stakeholders like employees, customers, and regulators.

Vendor support is key to any security implementation. This is because security tech is constantly evolving and vendors are the ones with the expertise and resources to keep up with these changes. Vendors also provide support and updates for their products which is crucial to maintaining the effectiveness of a security implementation. Without vendor support an organization’s security implementation will become outdated and ineffective over time.
